The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a sole-source bridge contract to DBI Waste Systems Inc. for comprehensive waste and recycling pickup/disposal at the VA Bedford Healthcare System. The bridge has an 8-month base period while VA develops a new base-plus-four-option-years contract. The current contract ends 9/30/2026 and cannot be extended; prior protests delayed award, so the bridge is needed to prevent a lapse in waste services. DBI, as incumbent, already has the equipment, staff, and site-specific knowledge to continue immediately.
