Building 22: there was a hot water tank and sink. The pipes come down from ceiling. Question: Do you want the pipes cut at ceiling level or sink level? Answer 1. Piping identified with demolition hatching in building 22 shall be demolished back to their source as defined by demolition hatching shown on drawing. Source piping shall be modified to replace the existing Tee configuration with union fittings and a straight run of piping to completely eliminate all dead legs. Question 2. Where bathrooms exist and there is tile, are contractors required to replace and/or match the tile? Answer 2. Yes, patch and repairs shall be completed to match existing finish and fire rating. Question 3. Where showers and toilets exist do we cut and cap below the surface or at surface? Answer 3. Dead leg piping identified shall be demolished back to their source. Source piping shall be modified to replace the existing Tee configuration with union fittings and a straight run of piping to completely eliminate all dead legs Question 4. Any natural stone wall/floor, do the stone need to be replace. Does the whole wall need to be restored? Answer 4. If a shower wall/floor has to be cut, a stainless steel plate is acceptable to cover the hole. If a wall/floor with porcelain tile is cut, the Contractor shall repair the wall with porcelain tile to matching existing. Ensure existing fire ratings are maintained. Question 5. Define restoration of architecture stones? What is considered acceptable restoration? (ie, color, texture, style) Answer 5. If a shower wall/floor has to be cut, a stainless steel plate is acceptable to cover the hole. If a wall/floor with porcelain tile is cut, the Contractor shall repair the wall with porcelain tile to matching existing. A sample is to be provide to COR for approval. Ensure existing fire ratings are maintained. Question 6. When source is mentioned, please confirm that source is defined as nearest shut-off or back to nearest branch? Answer 6. Dead leg piping identified shall be demolished back to their source. Source piping shall be modified to replace the existing Tee configuration with union fittings and a straight run of piping to completely eliminate all dead legs. Pipes and their hangers or supports, shall be removed back to their source. Those which are indicated to be abandoned but cannot be entirely removed, shall be sealed, capped or plugged at the main or branch they originate from in an approved method and as accepted by the COR. The intent is that those that are so embedded in existing concrete walls or floors that they cannot fully be removed without compromising the structure can be capped. These shall be fully investigated by the contractor and reviewed and accepted by the COR. The lines shall not be capped in any finished or unfinished areas, but shall be removed and sealed, capped or plugged only in masonry, CMU, concrete walls, concrete ceilings or concrete floors where they penetrate those materials or if accepted by the COR within walls or partitions, so that they are completely behind the finished surface. Questions 7. Please confirm if there are any demolition of urinal, shower and toilet drains? And/or removal of such said fixtures? Answer 7. Review drawings, Note only select fixtures shown with demolition hatching shall be demolished, otherwise the fixture shall remain and the associated piping serving that fixture shall be demolished back to the source and the existing fixture shall remain in place. Fixtures that are to be removed shall have both associated sanitary and vent piping disconnected and cut and capped inside of the wall with a permanent cap. The removed sanitary and vent piping shall not be visible and upon completion of removal. Ensure that existing wall finish and fire rating are restored to match existing.
