Sole Source Justification Notice The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(C). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five after date of publication of this notice will be considered by the Government. As the West Haven VAMC uses Sterrad sterilization machines for its sterilization needs, regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of those machines is a requirement in order to effectively meet patient care needs. The manufacturer of the Sterrad systems is Ethicon, and Ethicon only authorizes and trains their subsidiary ASP to perform these services on the Sterrad system. Ethicon/ASP s representative provided a letter stating this to be the case. As no other vendor is allowed to receive the training or sell this service, Ethicon/ASP is the sole source for this item. Additional market research was conducted, but no alternate sources were found.
