The VA seeks to significantly upgrade the video surveillance system at the West Los Angeles VA Campus to address gaps in camera coverage, aging equipment, limited real-time monitoring, and lack of intelligent analytics. The effort will incorporate AI-based weapons detection to identify visible, non-concealed weapons in real time, augmenting VA Police and security personnel rather than replacing them. The goal is to improve detection, deterrence, and response times to protect Veterans, families, staff, and facilities on the campus.
