In accordance with Sectino 3.2.2.4 of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS), the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis for the FAA's decsion to contract on a single source bases to Bauman Machine Inc.. The FAA has a requirement to purchase 2,000 Lamp Housing Assembly (LHA) cover latches or the Prceision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) system. The replace of LHA cover latches is needed to prevent the cover from deflecting the aiming device shelf causing misalignment of the PAPI system. The replacement latch must be a medium duty non-adjustable type 304 stainless steel with a natural finish and must be 116 mm X 20.6 mm with a hole diameter of 5.1 mm. The weight of the latch must be ? 0.0877 kg with a Strength/Ultimate Tensile Strength of 200kg. The latch must be capable of adjustments to allow for fitting tolerance and tension adjustment.
