The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking interested sources that are capable of performing Instrument Landing System (ILS) checks using a small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS). The responses to this RFI are for informational purposes only. This is not a screening information request or request for proposal of any kind. The FAA is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. The FAA will not pay for any information received or costs incurred in preparing the response to the RFI. Therefore, any cost associated with the RFI submission is solely at the interested vendor's expense. System Requirements. The drone configured with an ILS receiver and antennas must meet sUAS requirements listed in 14 CFR Part 107. The ILS receiver must be capable of meeting International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) certification standards. Measured values must meet ILS flight inspection tolerances per United States Standard Flight Inspection Manual (USSFIM), FAA Order 8200.1D. The data collected must be capable to report results in both Difference in Depth of Modulation (DDM) and in microamp (uA) values. OBJECTIVES: The first objective is to determine if the sUAS is capable of collecting localizer data pertaining to: Localizer Alignment as measured in DDM/uA at the surveyed ground check points. Localizer course width as measured in DDM/uA at the surveyed ground check points. Localizer symmetry as measured in DDM/uA at the surveyed ground check points. Localizer low clearance values as measured at the surveyed ground check points. The second objective is to determine if the sUAS is capable of collecting glide slope data pertaining to: For Capture Effect glide slopes, measure the glide slope angle with Lower to upper antenna configuration and lower to middle antenna configuration and in Normal with all three antennas radiating. Glide slope width as measured at the half width points. Glide slope symmetry as measured to the 90 hz sector. Glide slope Structure Below Path angle. At this time, the nature of the competition has not been determined. The FAA may decide to do a full and open competition or set aside all or part of the procurement for small businesses or eligible socially and economically disadvantaged businesses that are certified by the SBA for participation in the SBA's 8(a) Program.
