MARKET SURVEY CAPABILITY ASSESSMENT & REQUEST FOR QUOTES SATELLITE PHONES SERVICES Notification to Interested Parties for Notice ID AAQ-450-EBROWN Originally Published June 2, 2020 Date: June 19 2020 Vendor Questions and FAA Response: Question 1: Do you need all MSAT Beams for each of the fixed units to be active, or can the 1 beam covering that region just be used for that region? Answer 1: Beam is adequate as long as a user in that beam can call any other user. Question 2. How many broadcast Talk Groups do you have? This is a group that when one unit broadcasts voice it is heard by all other units in that Talk Group. Answer 2: We don’t use broadcast groups. We call point to point. Feel free to include broadcast options, but not required. Question 3: Do you require a Private mode on each MSAT unit? Answer 3: we do not require private mode, but please provide pricing for with and without. Question 4: Is Regular Telephony service required for all MSAT units? Do you make phone calls using the MSAT units? Answer 4: We do require the MSAT users to be able to call other MSAT users as well as regular telephone landlines. And, yes we do initiate phone calls from the MSAT units. Question 5: Is GPS tracking required for the fixed units? Answer 5: GPS is not required, but if you have pricing both with and without, please provide both.
