CO NP BLCA 10(1) South Rim Drive
The National Park Service requires restoration of roadside protection along South Rim Drive after last year’s wildfire, including hazard removal and installation of modern, crash-tested safety barriers at twelve locations. Work includes selective boulder removal/dispersal, minor grading and base preparation, procurement and installation of weathered-look steel guardrail, and traffic control with lane closures and flagging. Specialized guardrail and coatings have up to an 8-week lead time plus curing, with anticipated advertisement in mid-September 2026, award/NTP in mid-October 2026, and construction from early April to late May 2027. Construction will use pre-opening full road closure windows and then transition to one-lane traffic control after the seasonal roadway opening. The estimated bid range for Schedule A is $700,000 to $2,000,000.
