The existing Tonto Creek Bridge (no. 031204000003356) was built in 1956 and is a single lane, concrete slab bridge. NFSR 289 is a two-lane roadway that accesses several residential homes, a fish hatchery, and a summer camp along with many recreational sites and trailheads. The purpose of this project is to replace the existing Tonto Creek Bridge, expand the Horton Springs Parking Lot and improve pedestrian and vehicular safety and access to the recreation sites around the Tonto Creek Bridge on NFSR 289.
