CA FTFW SOBO TRAIL (1) ROCK HILL TRAIL The project is located in the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge in California’s Imperial Valley, approximately 90 miles southeast of Palm Springs, CA on the south side of the Salton Sea. The project consists of rehabilitation of approximately one mile of the existing, natural surface Rock Hill Trail to provide ABA compliant access. Selective clearing of Salt Cedars will occur along portions of the trail and a new overlook will be constructed at the base of Rock Hill. Trail rehabilitation is included at two additional sites along with parking lot improvements including new sidewalk and ABA parking. Construction improvements will also include clearing and grubbing, trail and parking lot signage, benches. PRINCIPAL WORK ITEMS INCLUDE: Roadway Aggregate Method 2 2,200 TON Roadway Reconditioning 8,000 SQYD Selective Clearing and Grubbing 2.5 ACRE Embankment Construction 500 CUYD Separation-Stabilization Geotextile, Class 1, Type A 8,100 SQYD Accessibility Ramp, Timber 1 EACH The estimated price range is between $700,000 and $2,000,000. Work along this route will take place within environmentally sensitive areas and will require interactions with the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Trails can be closed during construction if construction activities do not occur during peak visitation season which is from November to March.
