The SD TIG BIA 10(1) Lower Brule Route 10 project is located on the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe (LBST) Reservation. The route is the primary route to and from Pierre, South Dakota which is 50 miles northwest of the project. The project starts at mile post 0.0 and extends 13.54 miles east to the town of Lower Brule. The existing route has several long segments of roadway which pavement is beyond serviceable life and missing as well as key safety hazards regarding multi-modal use near Lower Brule, geometric standards and clear zone. Given the significance of the route for the LBST and the severely deteriorated condition of the route, a 2018 TIGER Grant was awarded to LBST to reconstruct the roadway. The project includes 13.54 miles variable scope, including: safety improvements, pulverization, subgrade reconditioning or undercut processing, major widening, earthwork, drainage, aggregate base, and hot-asphalt concrete pavement. The contemplated contract is to be a fixed-price variable scope (FPVS) contract, with designated areas of full-depth reclamation and variable lengths of no widening and undercut and major widening and undercut. This will be solicited as a full and open competition. The fixed price dollar amount is $16,600,000.00
