On April 20, 2020, the FAA awarded a follow-on production contract to supply an estimated 59 Next-Gen Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), including the necessary configuration and obsolescence support, and Contractor Depot Logistics as needed. The award was made following the Acquisition Management System (AMS) single source acquisition process following a published Single Source Announcement/Notice of Intent. Selex ES will continue to provide FAA-approved DME per DME Specification FAA-E-2996. The new contract is a three-year contract with a one-year base and two 1-year option periods. The total estimated value of contract 693KA8-20-D-00009 is $9,528,320.30. This contract is a bridge contract to continue sustaining DMEs until the DME, VOR, TACAN (DVT) Program acquisition is available. The FAA is in the process of developing new specifications for DVT systems to replace the aging infrastructure. In the interim, a requirement continues to exist for DMEs to be sustained and installed to support the NextGen DME program.
