The objective of this contract is to establish a mechanism through which peer review of vehicle fuel economy and fuel efficiency research documents, computer models, and other related analyses provided to or conducted for NHTSA during fiscal years 2021-2025 can be provided. The following are examples of technical areas for which peer review services may be required: Cost and effectiveness estimates for fuel economy and fuel efficiency technologies (including engine, propulsion, transmission, drive train, and related technologies); Mass reduction technologies applied to reduce vehicle fuel consumption, including advanced materials and structures, as well as the cost of mass reduction technologies; Computer aided engineering (CAE) models to examine the crashworthiness and material properties of vehicles and components; Vehicle fleet safety analyses, including crashworthiness evaluations of relevant standard regulatory and non-regulatory tests and finite element vehicle models; Computer modeling for vehicle and/or technology operational or application simulation; Models and forecasting procedures developed to predict market shares and sales of vehicle models produced during future model years; Medium/Heavy duty fuel consumption reduction rulemaking related projects; and Other reports from related fuel economy projects that NHTSA deems necessary for peer review.
