Request for Information - FOOD SERVICES AT U.S. MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY IN KINGS POINT, NY (693JF7-19-RFI-0003) Synopsis This is a Request for Information (RFI) to determine the interest and capabilities to provide Food Service with a base year and four option years at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). This notice does not solicit proposals. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the U.S. Government to form a binding contract. Additionally, the U.S. Government will not provide reimbursement for any information that may or may not be submitted in response to this RFI. Respondents are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. Furthermore, responding to this RFI will neither increase nor decrease an information providers' likelihood of being awarded any contract in the future for the requisite products and services. The U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MARAD) is requesting this information for the possible future requirement of a Food Service contract at USMMA. (See the attached Performance Work Statement for a full description.) Objective The purpose of this RFI is to seek feedback from vendors who can provide their Food Service capabilities for the Food Service requirements at USMMA. Seeking businesses that are: 1) Interested in performing the food services; 2) Can meet the criteria described herein (see Synopsis section of this RFI); 3) Have performed Food Services in the past or can comply with the key elements stated above, especially the serving of food in a cafeteria setting; and 4) Estimate of the annual cost based upon the knowledge of food services for an estimate of up to 776 midshipmen on a daily bases serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks; as well as special events that occurs at the Academy. 5) Connectivity of food service to M/N learning, growth, and health 6) Minimum 5 years of experience providing high-quality institutional food service on a college campus w/ verifiable references 7) Experience providing food service on a training vessel 8) Experience providing food service for team movements The USMMA is looking to award of a fixed price, performance based service contract. The desired outcome is to obtain quality food service at the best value to the United States. Quality, timeliness, customer satisfaction, displays, signage, sanitation, staffing, and management oversight are important performance objectives from the first Midshipman served to the last Midshipmen served. There is a saying that people "eat with their eyes," and therefore food needs to always look inviting.
