The U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MARAD), Norfolk, VA is soliciting for a vendor with the ability to engineer, design, specify, procure and install, a compatible replacement turbocharger for the TSSOM main propulsion engine in accordance with all requirements of the CFRs, ABS Rules, SOLAS Regulations and this PWS. The Main Propulsion Engine is a 6 cylinder, 4 stroke, MaK Model 6M601, rated at 6,000 kW, 425 rpm, 580 mm bore, and 600 mm stroke. The new replacement turbocharger shall not diminish or negatively impact any of the current operational characteristics of the ship’s existing propulsion engine regarding horsepower, torque, rpm, etc. In addition, the new turbocharger, and all its sensing and monitoring circuits, shall properly interface with the ship’s existing propulsion control system and alarm and monitoring circuits. The new replacement turbocharger shall be of a model which the OEM has committed to supporting with parts and service for a period of not less than 20 years after installation.
