This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract unde... NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. It is published for informational purposes only. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract under statutory authority 10 USC 2304(c)(1), set forth in Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-2, Unusual and Compelling Urgency. MARAD intends to award a sole source contract to the The General Ship Repair Corp. 1449 Key Highway Baltimore, Maryland 21230-5191. The Training Ship Freedom Star requires immediate repair of a leaking bow thruster fuel line that runs through the flume tank due to the ABS failing this item during the Annual Survey. Unacceptable delays in fulfilling the Government's need would be incurred if made to post this requirement and include the possibility of decreased safety during training cruises and the loss of regulatory certification. Finding another contractor would result in unacceptable repair delays and added expense. See the attached Justification and Approval for Other Than Full and Open Competition for additional information regarding this sole source determination. Though no responses to the notice of intent to this sole source are anticipated, any potential respondent must provide evidence showing their capability to immediately provide and perform the required supply and services.
