The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Surface & Secondary Surveillance Branch, ANG-E54, located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Atlantic City, NJ is requesting information from the industry to provide input on products and services available to support the development of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) avionics equipment that implements the Interrogation/Reply Monitor (IRM) application in the latest version of RTCA DO-181F and DO-260C requirements. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) may obtain a 1090 Extended Squitter (1090ES) ADS-B Out Red Label equivalent system that implements the IRM application, as described in RTCA DO-181F and DO-260C minimum operational performance standards (MOPS). While it is understood that manufacturers may be designing or upgrading current ADS-B designs to meet RTCA DO-181F and DO-260C minimum operational performance standards (MOPS) requirements, for this RFI, the FAA is only interested in receiving information on available Red Label Transponder/ADS-B systems that implement the IRM functionality into an ADS-B system. The FAA anticipates the use of this equipment to test IRM on an aircraft. The ADS-B system with IRM will be used to assist the FAA in the development of surveillance system activity monitoring and modeling.
