The work consists of performing slope scaling and debris removal within the defined project limits along Paradise Valley Road. The intent of the project is to provide temporary risk reduction of the hazard from the unstable slope which will require slope scaling to remove loose, unstable rock blocks and hazardous trees. Slope Scaling Location The project work is located approximately 21 miles west of Ashford, Pierce County, WA, inside Mount Rainier National Park on Paradise Valley Road (approximately 46º 47’10.68” N, 121º 43’ 57.37” W). The unstable slope is on the west side of the roadway in a road cut. The slope is approximately 460 feet long and has a maximum height of approximately 25 feet above the roadway elevation. Guardwall Removal Location The Guardwall removal is located approximately 27 miles west of Ashford, Lewis County, WA, inside Mount Rainier National Park on Stevens Canyon Rd (approximately 46º45’44.71” N, 121º 39’ 31.09” W). The Guardwall removal is on the south side of the roadway above a downhill slope and consists of approximately 30 linear feet of removal.
