The End of Amendment 1 /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// This Market Survey Announcement in Beta.SAM.gov replaces the previous Market Survey No. 34628 that has been posted in FAACO. Purpose and Background The purpose of this market survey is for the Government to: (1) gain an understanding of the market, (2) determine the level of competition, (3) determine if a select number of existing parts within the ASR-9 antenna assembly can be replicated, and (4) obtain price information. Interested vendors are encouraged to respond to this market survey in accordance with the instructions herein. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a requirement to replace up to 40 units each of the radiating assembly and the pedestal for existing ASR-9 antennas at locations throughout the United States. The FAA needs to replace portions of the ASR-9 antenna due to corrosion, parts obsolescence, and lack of repairable inventory. The ASR-9 antenna utilizes an S-band (2700-2900 MHz) conical-horn reflector, as well as a dual-beam feed array. Additional components include a large structural metal mount assembly (“pedestal”), rotation equipment including a gearbox and motors (“rotary joint”), and the necessary control hardware (“antenna control box”). The portions that the FAA needs to replace are the radiating assembly and the pedestal only. It is the intent of the FAA to replace these components with identical reproductions of the existing design, per design detail attachments listed in Section 10 of the Market Survey. The antenna is part of the ASR-9 system, a surveillance radar that provides aircraft position and weather information to automation systems for air traffic controllers. The system was procured in the mid-1980s and fielded between 1989 and 1994, and has exceeded the expected 20-year lifecycle. There are 135 fielded ASR-9 systems that consist of 121 FAA operational sites, seven Department of Defense sites, and seven support systems. The antenna components acquired through the contract will need to be tested with one First Article delivery projected date of Quarter 1 GFY 2023. The antenna components will be delivered to the FAA by the Quarter 1, Government Fiscal Year (GFY) 2026. All testing shall be conducted in accordance to existing test procedures. After all tests have been conducted per existing test procedures, and with the approval of the FAA, the FAA will take delivery of the antenna components at Government-specified facilities. The period of performance is six years.
