The purpose of this special notice is to provide an update on the Internal Revenue Service’s posting regarding Submission Processing Modernization. No additional information is being requested at this time. On May 2nd 2022, the IRS issued a Request for Information (RFI) on sam.gov in support of our anticipated Submission Processing Modernization (SPM) pilot. We received 14 total responses to the RFI prior to closure and greatly appreciate the information and insight shared by our industry partners. Based on the information contained in many of the responses, the IRS would like to clarify that the physical mail processing function of the requirement remains a critical element of any proposed solution set and would ask vendors to keep that requirement top of mind in any response to a Request for Proposal (RFP). The IRS does anticipate issuing the associated RFP very early in Q4 FY 22 with a subsequent award anticipated no later than the end of fiscal year 2022. Currently, the IRS does anticipate utilizing the Pilot IRS approach for this acquisition. If the above timeline is adjusted, the IRS will issue another posting to sam.gov.
