The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Information Technology (IT) Modernization program is undertaking one of its most high-profile and enduring initiatives: replacing the IRS’s oldest tax system, known as the Individual Master File (IMF), with a more modern tax processing system. This modernization effort has been structured into two transition stages.The purpose is to redesign business and technical functional requirements to a standard model from the current Individual Master File (IMF) system that was written in IBM System/360 z/OS High Level Assembler (HLASM) programming language.
