This procurement action is to award a sole so... THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR BIDS, QUOTES OR PROPOSALS. At this time no solicitation exists. This notification is being posted for information purposes only. This procurement action is to award a sole source contract to KBA-Notasys for the replacement of obsolete electrical and mechanical parts for eight (8) Super Orlof Intaglio (SOI) press equipment and to upgrade the inspection systems used by BEP for currency manufacturing. All parts listed in in the attached Statement of Work (SOW) are manufactured and are proprietary to KBA-NotaSys. Consequently, the existing inspection system that requires an upgrade was manufactured and installed by KBA for BEP. There are no other sources that are capable of replacing the obsolete parts and performing the upgrade to the inspection system other than KBA-NotaSys. BEP does not possess the required capabilities in terms of labor, machinery or materials to produce these parts as well as the technical expertise to perform the upgrade. Therefore, the Government has determined the need to search for outside sources to procure these parts and required services for the upgrade. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to sole-source this requirement and award a contract to KBA-NotaSys. The applicable North American Classification Code (NAICS) is 333244, Printing Machinery and Equipment. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes. If you feel that your firm / company can provide all the parts listed in the attached SOW and the capability to perform the upgrade, please submit a capabilities statement by 12:00 PM EST, April 21, 2020. The decision not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
