The objective for this contract is for the Contractor to build on and expand the scope of the current Filing Season Risk Assessment and Filing Season Readiness efforts by creating an enterprise-wide interconnected view of organizational risk. Cybersecurity plans to expand this methodology to address risks across the enterprise and to improve the IRS’ security posture as it modernizes its infrastructure and applications. The expansion involves aggregating, normalizing, enriching, and correlating data across multiple sources to create a decision support environment facilitating a rich user experience for executives and operators to analyze risks tailored to their evolving relationships and context. This tool drives the ability to focus on the security of IRS’s most important filing season infrastructure applications, and therefore the collection of tax dollars, by providing multi-tiered data sets allowing for the discussion and remediation of security vulnerabilities. This process makes it harder for an individual attempting to gain illegal access to taxpayer data by ensuring our infrastructure is not vulnerable and efforts to harden configurations are addressed timely.
