Park Information Gateway National Recreation (GATE) Area was established in 1972 as the nation’s first urban National Park. GATE is comprised of three park units in two states - The Jamaica Bay and Staten Island Units in New York, and the Sandy Hook Unit in New Jersey. The opportunities contained in this Request for Bids (RFB), are located in the Sandy Hook Unit of GATE. Sandy Hook is located at the northern end of the New Jersey shore, accessible via Route 36 in Monmouth County and is situated at the southern entrance of Lower New York Bay. The approximate 7-mile stretch of spectacular ocean and bay waters make Sandy Hook a favorite Jersey Shore getaway for Garden State residents and others. During summers, Sandy Hook is typically a destination for over two million visitors! Opportunity GATE is seeking Lessee(s) to provide high quality food and non-alcoholic beverage services via mobile vending units such as food trucks within certain designated areas of the Sandy Hook Unit. The RFB also contains an opportunity for the rental of beach equipment such as umbrellas and chairs along with the sale of beach sundries. The NPS is seeking operators who can provide a level of service that attracts a wide range of beach goers, and better serves the surrounding community. This goal is part of the NPS’s continued support for providing amenities and creating a quality destination within the park. Lease Terms Lessees are required to provide services from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day of each year during which their Lease is in effect, and must provide services on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays at all locations. The Proposed Lease term may not exceed a maximum term of three (3) years with a lease expiration date no later than September 30, 2025 for all locations. The RFB provides comprehensive details on the locations available, minimum operating days & hours, menu offerings, and minimum bid requirements. Applicants may submit bids with an offer to pay a higher Annual Rent to enhance the competitiveness of their submission.
