The U.S. Geological Survey is seeking potential sources for the delivery of equipment for indirect, non-destructive measurement of canopy leaf area to Lafayette, LA. USGS will use this equipment to measure canopy leaf area under all sunlight conditions in both continuous and small or isolated canopies of mature trees. The initial application of this equipment will be in addressing the decline of leaf area in bald cypress stands experiencing different salinity and flooding regimes. Firms responding shall specify that their equipment meets the specifications provided below and provide detailed product information to show clear technical compliance. The equipment to be delivered must meet the specifications outlined in the salient characteristics document attached to this notice. All interested firms shall submit clear documentation that explicitly demonstrates the capabilities and product specifications related to this effort to the point of contact below. Firms responding shall indicate their socioeconomic status (e.g. small business, service disabled veteran, woman/women owned, HUBZone, etc.). The Government's evaluation of the capabilities of respondents will factor into whether any forthcoming solicitation will be conducted. Any information submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis is voluntary. This sources sought notice is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government reimburse any costs associated with the submission of information in response to this notice. Respondents will not individually be notified of the results of any government assessments. The Government's evaluation of the capability statements received will factor into whether any forthcoming solicitation will be conducted as a full and open competition or as a set-aside for small businesses, or any particular small business designation. Phone calls will not be accepted in response to this notice. Responses must be in writing and must provide clear and concise documentation indicating an offeror's bona fide capability to provide these supplies/services. Verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered.
