Per 36 CFR § 51.11, the NPS is cancelling the solicitation for concession contract CC-BIBE002-19. A report commissioned by the NPS indicates the issues related to the instability of the soils beneath Chisos Mountains Lodge (Lodge) are more extensive than previously believed and as described in the Prospectus. Due to the critical importance of the Lodge to the operations, it is imperative that all stakeholders fully understand the potential impact or disruption to the concessioner's operations that may result from properly addressing said issues. Accordingly, the NPS has determined that cancelling the solicitation is appropriate in the public interest so that the NPS may conduct further analysis and planning. The NPS intends to issue a new solicitation that will address the updated plans for the Lodge. In the interim, the NPS will extend the existing contract and the current concessioner, Big Bend Resorts, LLC, will continue its operations so as to avoid an interruption of visitor services.
