characteristics and delivered to the receiving location listed in Section 5, Shipping and Delivery. 4) Materials: a) The words "material" and "materials" as used in these specifications to denote items furnished by the Contractor shall mean equipment, machinery, product(s), component(s), or other item(s) procured under this requirement. b) All materials furnished shall be new and of the highest standard industrial/commercial quality as normally used for this type of equipment, considering strength, ductility, durability, best engineering practice and the purpose for which the equipment is to be used. c) Except as specified, materials shall conform to the most current Federal specifications or standards, or in the absence of an applicable Federal standard, materials shall conform to the most current specifications of standards of: a) American National Standards Institute (ANSI) b) American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) c) American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) d) Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) e) National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) f) Or any other nationally recognized standards organization as applicable. g) Any proposed deviation from or request to use materials not covered by the aforementioned specifications and standards, shall require Contractor submittal for approval by the Government with a justification explaining the exact nature for the deviation along with complete specification for the materials being proposed for use. h) Standards, or sections of standards, listed within the Government's specifications that are in error or identify incorrect standards or sections of standards, does not relieve the Contractor's obligation to use the most recent and correction sections or standards used by industry and as it pertains to the main subject matters of the paragraph identifying the incorrect standard or section.
