This Special Notice is a Notice of Award to Climax Portable Machine Tools, Inc., for a BW3000 Borewelder for the Yellowtail Dam. The Bureau of Reclamation has determined not to compete this contract, pursuant to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b)(1), Soliciting from a Single Source. The identified equipment is used in conjunction with the Climax Portable boringbar Model BB1149 (tool) that Yellowtail Powerplant currently owns. The attachment equipment cannot be used in conjunction with any other brand of equipment (tool) and function for its intended purpose with the features needed. The key feature of the BW3000 is allowing the operator to weld up localized oblong worn section of bores which is the current condition of the runner vent holes as described above. The damaged sections of the vent holes bores have been removed and this equipment will facilitate the repair method. For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract deem only one source reasonably available. This procurement was conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures with only one source reasonably available due to the reasons stated above.
