The National Park Service, Denali National Park, intends to issue a sole source award to the University of Alaska - Fairbanks (UAF) for conducting thermal modeling of a slope. Researchers will create a permafrost model to predict ice-rich permafrost thaw through time. The work will be conducted using two types of modeling software and requires extensive knowledge of permafrost, slope stability, and modeling. This is considered a sole source to UAF because, to the best of the NPS's knowledge and based on market research, UAF is the only known source that can provide this product in the United States. This will be a commercial acquisition using simplified acquisition procedures per FAR 13. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 541712 with a Small Business Size Standard of 1000 employees. This is not a request for competitive quotes, but serves as a procurement notice to fulfill public posting requirements in accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(2). No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No contract award will be made on the basis of proposals or quotations received in response to this notice; however any firm that believes they have capabilities to provide this service item may give written notification to the Contracting Officer at darcy_skinner@nps.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
