PRESERVE WISCONSIN STATE MONUMENT Historic Preservation Treatment of Stone and Bronze This historic structure is constructed of granite and stands 122 feet high. On top of a raised pedestal is a 57.5 foot Doric column and a bronze statue of "Old Abe" the war eagle, mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry. On each side of the column (bordered on three sides with a low wall) are a statue of an infantryman and a cavalryman with his horse. Embedded within the pedestal are bronze relief panels in honor of the 9,075 Wisconsin troops who fought at Vicksburg. A relief tablet at the base of the column depicts a Union and Confederate soldier with hands clasped in friendship to symbolize the peace which now exists between the states. Scope consists of restoration and conservation work, stone cleaning and repair, bronze work, repointing joints, lightning protection system installation, etc. under a single, Firm-Fixed Price contract for construction (alteration or repair). MAGNITUDE: Estimated price range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 (1st Quartile). Requisite Qualifications and Performance Standards: Historic Preservation Treatment Specialist Qualifications: Experienced firm with certifications and training to clearly demonstrate qualifications to perform work. Fabricator and Erectors Qualifications: Firm experienced in fabricating, erecting and maintaining scaffolding and protection system similar to those indicated for this Project with a record of successful in-service performance. Historic Masonry Cleaning Specialist Qualifications: Minimum 10-years' experience working on buildings or memorial structures at least 50 years old. Experienced tradesmen with minimum of 5 years successful experience in fabrication and installation of Work. Conservator Qualifications: A qualified firm that regularly engages in the cleaning of metallic stains from historic marble, and completed a minimum of three recent projects with a successful performance record. A professional member of the American Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) whose primary occupation is the practice of conservation and through specialized education, knowledge, training, and experience of conservation in accordance with the AIC Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. TENTATIVE AWARD DATE: NOV 4, 2025 OR SOON AFTER LEGAL REVIEW CLEARANCE OF CONTRACT AWARD AND SOURCE SELECTION. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 365 DAYS AFTER NOTICE TO PROCEED.
