Project includes conversion of the existing Village Sport Shop (a vacant retail sales space currently within the primary park concessioner's land assignment) to a new Visitor Contact Station (operated and maintained by NPS), and construction of an outdoor information plaza and restroom building. Interior building modifications consist of limited demolition; upgrading communications, data, electrical, and utility systems; new HVAC; constructing a fire barrier wall interior walls; installing general and specialized lighting to support exhibits; refurbishing wood wall and ceiling finishes; new paint, carpeting, interior finishes, and signage; cabinets for storage and a service counter that will be staffed by uniformed personnel to answer questions. Exterior building modifications include relocating the main entry door(s) and emergency exit doors to facilitate improved access and egress; providing access to meet ABA accessibility standards; roofing; strengthening of glass panes; siding repair and painting. Sitework consists of site utilities; concrete plaza and walkways; stepped seating; landscaping. The restroom building is a CMU structure with wood trusses, wood siding and asphalt shingle roofing; building utilities; women¿s, men¿s and family restrooms with 18 fixtures (WCs and urinals) total; sinks; restroom accessories; finishes.
