Q1. Can we track equipment from unit to unit or do we need to move with a lowboy between each location? A1. Once on site, contractors may drive machines from unit to unit, using existing two tracks whenever possible. The large unit to the west may require contractors to drive their machines a short distance on or adjacent to HWY 64. With proper flagging or a vehicle using flashers, this shouldn't pose a substantial safety issue. Q2. Are we mulching the sage as well? A2. No. Per the SOW, some incidental sage mastication near trees is considered acceptable. Otherwise, we are not taking sage. Q3. Is it ok with us using a tracked machine on this job. No site visit is scheduled but you may visit the location on your own. - End of Q&A - The Bureau of Land Management, Colorado, has a requirement for a mastication of standing dead and live pinyon and juniper trees with a Contractor furnished machine (e.g. Hydro-Ax, Fecon Bull Hog, or equivalent). General Description of Work: All trees and designated vegetation within the treatment areas shall be cut and shredded (masticated). Total acreage to be treated under this contract is 372 acres. The treatment area can be described as relatively flat terrain (< 10% slope) a moderate density of 1" to 14" diameter juniper trees. The majority of the trees are in the 6" - 12" range with multiple stems. Isolated larger trees (14"- 20") are also present. Some rocks are present and the overall level of difficulty is low. No site visit is scheduled but location files are available upon request. The location is approximately 30 miles west of Meeker, CO The period of performance will be date of award (estimated April 27, 2023) through May 14, 2023 if weather conditions permit and/or July 16, 2023 through September 30, 2023. No work can be completed during May 15 through July 15 due to wildlife restrictions. A partial payment will be made for acres completed during the April - May 14 timeframe (or full payment if all acres are completed.)
