Contract... Marine Vessel Charter Service The purpose of this amendment is to revise the Statement of Work, attach work stops map, and answer submitted questions. No additional questions will be allowed. Contractors are required to sign and return copies to the issuing agency. 1. Origin/Destination: To be determined - could you advise on the expected timeframe for finalizing the specific origin and destination of the charter route (Ketchikan-Petersburg-Juneau or Juneau-Petersburg-Ketchikan)? Answer: Either way is acceptable. The vendor can start at the north end and finish at the south end, or start at the south end and finish at the north end. Attached is a map of the planned work stops. The boat captains may find safe anchorages nearby. At the north end, the final destination is Port Snettisham, and that is between Juneau and Petersburg. It is a little closer to Juneau, but not significant. If the vendor has a subsequent charter closer to Petersburg, they can drop us off there, or they can drop us in Juneau if that works better for them. Alternatively, if they are finishing a charter in Juneau and would rather start there, and they can drop us in Ketchikan at the end. 2. Pick-up/Drop-off Schedule: Could you please advise on the timeline for finalizing the specific pick-up and drop-off details(time) at each location? Answer: I can't provide specific times because I can't predict weather, tides and currents. The boat captains will have to calculate this based on their boat speeds. In the SOW, I indicate the minimum amount of time we need to work at each spot and estimated travel times. If everything goes perfectly, we could be finished in 10 days: 8 nights anchoring out at the geology stops is a minimum, which is why I used the word "includes", and a half day in port at each end, loading and unloading gear, will add up to 10 days. For example, if we start in Ketchikan, there is a dock at the airport where a boat could pick us up. But our start time will depend on flight schedules. Or if we start at 8 in the morning, we will need to arrive Ketchikan the night before. The vendor must guarantee us getting to all of our requested stops. We account for extra travel/transit time in case the weather is bad or seas are very rough, or we could be stuck an extra day at one of the anchorages. The captains should choose appropriate anchorages as near as possible. If the weather is bad and the seas are rough, we could need to delay departure to the next anchorage - I do not wish for the captain to say I can't go to my last stop because my 10 days are up and they have a next charter waiting for them on the dock in Juneau or somewhere. I want to make sure I get to all our planned stops. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
