This is a Request For Information - This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. No contract will be awarded as a result of this Sources Sought announcement. The United States Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants is soliciting information from qualified sources; the results of this announcement will be evaluated to determine if there are businesses capable of performing the proposed work. The US Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants seeks responses from vendors that possess the capability to supply sediment coring equipment to support sediment coring needs of the Washington Water Science Center for coring in inland water and shallow coastal environments typical of work done by WAWSC to investigate transboundary water quality issues, reservoir sedimentation, coastal habitat, floodplain sedimentation and hyporheic exchange, and post-wildfire sedimentation. The minimum technical requirements are as follows: - is small (can be operated by one person) - is light-weight unit (<100 lbs) - can be operated from a small floatation device (e.g., pontoon boat or Jon boat) - requires minimal energy for operation (electrically powered by easily accessible sources such as 12-volt batteries) - has no mechanical moving parts that would require an operator¿s license - provides minimal disturbance of sediment layers and contacts - operates at a water depth greater than 100 ft - can extract sediment cores greater than 6 ft - extracts 3-inch diameter cores Interested parties should submit a Capability Statement to the Contracting Officer, Charlan Fejarang at cjfejarang@usgs.gov by the due date, Friday July 14, 2023.
