Menlo Park to Moffett Field moving services The U.S. Geological Survey will be undertaking a complicated and phased relocation in the second half of calendar year 2023 from Menlo Park, CA to Moffett Field, CA (Mountain View). The scope of this effort is relocation services including full project management for inventory, planning, coordination, scoping, and physical relocation of office, industrial, and laboratory equipment. The entire move will incorporate nearly 300,000 SF of space. This will be a very complicated relocation involving not only standard office type equipment and furnishings, but extremely difficult, sensitive, expensive, heavy laboratory and industrial equipment. This move will require only the most qualified contractors and subcontractors, and an experienced project manager who can begin planning and coordination efforts immediately. We intend to solicit competitive quotations in accordance with (IAW) Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.5, "Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Products and Commercial Services". The applicable product/service code is V301, Relocation Services. The applicable NAICS (2017) code is 484210, Used Household and Office Goods Moving, size standard $30M. This acquisition is unrestricted. The forthcoming contract will be a requirements-type contract IAW FAR 16.503 with an ordering period of eighteen months. The first task order (immediately following award) will be for the project manager/move coordinator on a labor hours basis. That person will be expected to inventory, plan, coordinate, and scope future task orders for physical moving services, which will be issued on a firm-fixed price basis to the maximum extent possible. The prime contractor is expected to manage any specialty subcontractors that may be required; examples include heavy machinery movers/riggers for certain of our large items and instrument manufacturers if specialty items need to be disassembled/reassembled/calibrated by factory technicians. Prospective contractors do not need to respond to this presolicitation notice. The request for quotations is expected to be available in mid to late January 2023. Questions or concerns should be submitted to the Contracting Officer, Jeff Caravelli, at jcaravelli@usgs.gov. END
