SEQUENCING SYSTEM NOTICE OF INTENT This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source. The US Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a Purchase Order to Illumina, Inc. in San Diego, CA for a sequencing system with unique characteristics as described below: - Flexible run configurations that can be selected to produce between 1 million to 50 million reads per sequencing run, depending on desired output. - Produces highly accurate sequencing data, with accuracy defined as a quality score with >70% bases higher than phred score 30 (example data from 2 x 300 base pairs run configuration). - Can be set to produce a range of sequence lengths: 1 or 2x 25, 75, 150, 250, and 300 base pairs, depending on run configuration. - The output settings can be set to range from 150 million bases to 15 giga bases per run, depending on run configuration. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Illumina, Inc. is, to the knowledge of the USGS, the only source who can provide equipment that meets all the required specifications. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, and associated size standard 1,000 employees apply to this announcement, along with Product Service Code 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. Responses or inquiries shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to capplegate@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 09/09/2022 at 0700 PDT. Responses submitted by hardcopy or the any web portal shall not be accepted or considered.
