The United States Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants is soliciting information from qualified sources; the results of this announcement will be evaluated to determine if there are businesses capable of performing the proposed work. The US Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants seeks responses from vendors that possess the capability to provide Qty. (2) - GNSS receivers to ensure adaptability to the current fleet of Trimble equipment currently in use, including other GNSS receivers hand-held controllers. The equipment requested will replace Trimble R7¿s currently in use. Required Specifications: o Embedded 410-470MHz radio (for Real Time Kinematic (RTK) surveying capability): RTK style of surveying requires that GPS corrections be either generated by a "Base" station GPS unit and received by the "Rover" GPS unit. The data between the base and rover is accomplished by data radios. These radios are embedded in the GPS rover units to simplify the communication process. The 410-470MHz frequency band is the established wavelength for GPS communications (FCC determination). o Communication and corrections broadcast via TCP/IP (NTRIP), : RTK style of surveying requires that GPS corrections be either generated by a "Base" station GPS unit and received by the "Rover" GPS unit. The data between the base and rover can be accomplished via the internet if the receiver is capable of transmitting in the correct protocol (NTRIP) over TCP/IP. o Dual band (L1/L2), multiple constellation capability: the GNSS receiver has the capability of receiving dul frequency (L1/L2) satellite signals from a number of different satellite systems (i.e. GPS from United States, GLONASS from Russia, Galileo from the European Space agency, BeiDou from China). The ability to receive satellite data from these additional constellations is a functional improvement over single-constellation systems for surveying in environments with obstructions blocking some areas of the sky. o Internal battery capable of providing at least 7 hours of operation: Internal battery must be capable of providing continuous operation for at least 7 hours to provide base/rover functionality for a typical survey. o External power connections: Must have required power connections allowing receiver to be powered using an external AC or DC power source. o Onboard display: Display must provide sufficient information to the surveyor to verify proper operation in the field without the need to use additional equipment. o Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capable: Communication between the GNSS receiver and control unit is accomplished either through a wired (serial cable) or wireless (Bluetooth or WiFi) connection. Because we work in a wet marine environment, a cabled connection can be problematic and leads to failures. Through experience, we prefer the option for a wireless connection. o Programming interface through HTML user interface: Programming of the unit must be possible using an HTML interface through a web browser, without the need for additional software. Programming can be conducted using any personal computer or smartphone using the WiFi connection. This provides flexibility in the field. o 1 PPS output: This output provides precise timing for connected equipment. o Event marker input: Must accept time-event marks from connected equipment, such as camera shutter signals connected via a wired connection. o Large onboard storage capacity: Must be able to store large amounts of raw observable data in various formats (RINEX, T02, etc). o Data logging rate up to 20Hz: Must be able to record raw GPS observables at rates up to at least 20Hz. o Modular form factor with external GNSS antenna: External GNSS antenna allows for flexibility of use and mounting. The external antenna can be located in a different location than the electronics housing (such as on the roof of a vehicle or vessel, with the electronics installed in the interior cabin). o Interfaces with Trimble data logger control units and software: Trimble GNSS receivers are programmed either in the office (by PC computers) or remotely (in the field) by handheld data logger control units. Trimble's data logger and control units use Trimble Access software. We presently have TDC600, TSC5 and TSC3 data loggers that we use in our workflow with our other GNSS receivers (models R7, R9 and R10). The GNSS receivers that we purchase must be able to interface with Trimble Access software seamlessly and with full capability within Trimble Access on our existing handheld data loggers. o Compatible with Trimble Business Center software program: Trimble Business Center software program is used in several capacities. The software is used for post-processing of GNSS observations. The GNSS receivers we purchase must be able to record raw GNSS observable satellite data and handheld data controller inputs (such as measuring a particular point and assigning a user-selected ID to that point via input from the data logger). The data files recorded by the GNSS receivers must be able to be fully processed within Trimble Business Center, including both the raw observables and the additional attribute information added from the handheld data loggers during the survey.
