The amendment addresses a question about Work Item 6.3, the ABS Survey for load line. Under the agreed change, the contractor will perform tasks supporting the vessel’s load line special survey to the ABS Surveyor’s satisfaction. The contractor remains responsible for scheduling and coordinating inspections with the ABS Surveyor. Any additional work the ABS Surveyor determines is necessary for the load line survey will be proposed by the contractor via a CFR. The Government agrees to this revised approach.

This amendment provides responses to contractor questions and includes attachments with hydrophone dimensions and engine/gear refresh quotes. Hydrophones will be mounted along the stern, spaced approximately 3 meters apart, oriented vertically with a 15-degree outboard toe, and tilted downward at either 15 or 25 degrees. For propulsion shaft inspection, any replacement of line shaft bearings or seals found out of acceptable tolerance must be documented in a Condition Found Report, and the government will review it before approving a contract modification for the added work and costs.

The U.S. Geological Survey requires services for the annual haulout, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Research Vessel Sturgeon. This acquisition is a small business set-aside under NAICS 336611, with a firm-fixed price contract to be awarded based on best value considering technical approach, experience, past performance, and price. Performance is restricted to shipyards located within the Great Lakes basin. The period of performance runs from approximately November 10, 2026, through April 15, 2027. No budget amount is specified in the notice.
