The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement to construct a new Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) on a site at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. The HIF provides hydrologic instrumentation and equipment services for the Water Resources Mission Area and numerous Federal partners. The services include the sales, rental, and servicing of equipment, as well as evaluation and development of new instrument technologies and verification/certification of in-service hydrologic equipment. A staff of 40-50 personnel currently work at the HIF, located at the NASA Stennis Space Center, in Bay St Louis, Mississippi. The current HIF mission will relocate to the new facility. The facility will also include new capabilities that will meet the hydrologic equipment needs of the Next Generation USGS Water Observing System. The project magnitude is between $30-40 million. Proposals are being requested under Request for Proposals 140G0121R0015, which will be posted at Fedbizopps.gov and FedConnect.net on or about 05/14/2021. The offeror is responsible for monitoring the posting sites for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any). A statement of work, specifications, drawings, and other project information are not available for release at this time. Site visit information will be provided in the solicitation when it is issued. The NAICS code is 236220 with a small business size standard of $39.5 mil. This solicitation will be full and open competition.
