The US Fish and Wildlife Service has 548 National Wildlife Refuges, 37 Wetland Management Districts, 21 Wildlife Management Areas and 70 National Fish Hatcheries distributed throughout the United States whose mission is working with other to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. FWS manages an inventory consisting of approximately 3500 pieces of heavy equipment with an estimated replacement value exceeding $300 million dollars. The use of heavy equipment is vital to FWS supporting conservation land management and fire suppression practices and natural disaster responses.
