Facilitation of PNLCS Symposium, OR WA ID This symposium will set the stage for increased coordination and communication around landscape conservation planning, science and implementation in the region. This will help state, tribal, NGO, foundation, federal and local partners in engaging effectively in landscape conservation efforts. Further outcomes of the conference will be: 1) Increased knowledge of landscape conservation efforts in the region; 2) Identification of lessons learned; 3) Identify commonalities across efforts and identifying common challenges that the group could continue to work on collectively, 4) Develop a Community of Practice (CoP) that meets regularly. The purpose of the CoP will be to maintain communication and share where efforts are at and learn from each other; 5) A report that documents the Symposium, and 6) Heightened awareness of landscape scale planning efforts in the region could bring more buy-in, engagement and financial resources. This will be a two-day event. An agenda development team will be convened that consists of state, tribal, federal and private partners. The general flow of the event will be as follows. The first day will consist of featured speakers on the importance of landscape conservation, a panel discussion representing multiple perspectives, and brief presentations from about 10 different landscape conservation efforts in Region 1. The second day will consist of break-out groups around critical themes in landscape conservation: governance, science, implementation and communications.
