Acquisition of an extended warranty for for BioFire FilmArray 2.0 devices with BioFire Defense LLC used by the USAMRD-G laboratory with the Lugar Center. This would be the purchase of an extended warranty, via sole source to BioFire Defense LLC (SAM.GOV UEI NHMDGM122546) to cover eight BioFire FilmArray 2.0 devices in the instance that one needs maintenance (Serial #s 2FA08820, 2FA08779, 2FAE05AE, 2FA0B106, 2FA02441, 2FA02188, 2FA01717, & 2FA02336). The device is critical to several ongoing projects for USAMRD-G in providing syndromic panel results for the detection of respiratory and gastrointestinal pathogens. It enables USAMRD-G to meet its biotechnology-based requirements associated with its force health protection surveillance / collaboration mission. This device is critical for our pathogen discovery efforts that are used to protect the Warfighter, and this warranty would ensure these devices remain functional. All BioFire FilmArray 2.0 devices are repaired by BioFire Defense LLC. Any other company chosen to fulfill a warranty on these devices would only serve as an intermediary between us and BioFire Defense LLC (the manufacturer of the devices under warranty). By using any other company, the government would incur excess shipping charges on top of any fees associated with the execution of this warranty coverage. By obtaining a warranty directly with BioFire Defense LLC, we are able to utilize the Diplomatic pouch to ship machines for service, thereby incurring minimal shipping costs and eliminating any unnecessary intermediary.
