The purpose of this synopsis is to announce the US State Department's intent to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price sole source purchase order with AMERICAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, INC. (UEI: CNB9EF8VHML3) located at 829 Middlesex Turnpike; Billerica, Massachusetts 01821-3907 for the purpose of obtaining Maintenance for the ZBV scanning system, which will enhance security and facilitate detection of illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons along known smuggling route into the United States.. The Government intends to purchase the following: Monthly Z Backscatter Van (ZBV) maintenance contract (1 June to 31 December 2022); ZBV Operator Training Course for 10 participants; Option Year (1) Monthly Z Backscatter Van (ZBV) maintenance contract (1 January to 31 December 2022) The Government intends to negotiate solely with AMERICAN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, INC. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 334517, with a size standard of 1000 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by 3 June 2022 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time will be considered.
