The purpose of this synopsis is to announce the US State Department's intent to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price sole source contract with LEIDOS, INC. (SAM Unique Identity ID: WJEJQY1PHCR5) located at 6841 Benjamin Franklin DR STE 400; Columbia, Maryland 21046 for the purpose of obtaining maintenance and training of the ZBV scanning system, which will enhance security and facilitate the detection of illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons along known smuggling routes into the United States. The Government intends to purchase the following units and quantities: Mobile scanner VACIS M6500 (1) EACH License Plate Reader (1) EACH Transformer (1) EACH Remote Operation Kit (1) EACH Shipping (1) LOT Radiation safety, operator, and image analysis training course. Lasts 6 days and accommodates 12 students (1 LOT) Image analysis reinforcement training course. Lasts 2 days and accommodates 12 students (1 LOT) Train-the-trainer course. Lasts 9 days and accommodates 4 students (1) LOT Five year warranty and maintenance for VACIS M6500 (OCONUS) (1) LOT The Government intends to negotiate solely with LEIDOS, INC. as per FAR part 6.302-1 (Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements); the NAICS code for this acquisition is 334511 (Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing), with a size standard of 1,250 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
