MSHA Altair Gas Monitors
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requires intrinsically safe, MSHA-approved gas monitoring units for use in harsh underground coal mines with low clearances, wet conditions, and harmful gases. The equipment must be small and lightweight to accommodate inspectors working in spaces under 30 inches high while carrying up to 45 pounds of gear. Daily bump testing using a calibration station is mandatory to ensure proper unit calibration.
