This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Koehler Wheat Cordless Cap Lamp (Name Brand or Equal) Justification: The environment of an underground coal mine can be extremely dark. Our inspectors require cap lamps to see in these conditions. The Mine Safety and Health Administration’s (MSHA) Mine Safety and Health Enforcement presently uses cordless caplamps for our inspectors. Koehler has a cordless cap lamp that will work with our present wall mounted chargers. This cap lamp is also approved by MSHA as intrinsically safe for use in underground mines. Functional Requirements: ? Must be MSHA approved as intrinsically safe ? Charge in <6 hours ? Battery life capable of lasting for at least 12 hours ? Three step switch (low brightness, High brightness, Off) ? Beam Distance – 140 meters ? Weight 5 oz. or less ? Ingress Protection – “submersible” – IP68@ 1m for ½ hour ? Impact resistant- 1 Meter ? Cordless ? Rechargeable Charging unit for the Koehler (or equivalent) ? Single unit desk top charger (charger must be made for unit quoted) MSHA presently has Koehler multi-unit charges in their offices. MSHA will not be purchasing new multi-unit chargers; however, if different unit is quoted, it must be compatible with the Koehler multi-unit charger.
