The FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) has a continuing requirement of facilitating the FBI’s rapid response to, and the management of, crisis incidents; to assist FBI field divisions in pre-crisis planning and during a response to critical incidents and major investigations; to provide expertise in crisis management, negotiations, technical and tactical operations, behavioral assessments and aviation; and to present training programs in areas of expertise to FBI field offices, federal, state and local, and international partners. The increased frequency and severity of terrorist incidents affecting the Unites States has required a corresponding increase in CIRG’s role in a global capacity both in response and training towards critical incident response. As such, the CIRG has a need for a medical doctor trained in the disciplines of Behavioral Science and Conflict Resolution to provide in-depth professional consultation, collaboration, and liaison services during active major counterterrorism (CT) and counterintelligence (CI) investigations, threat case consultations, and crisis negotiation matters and to provide psychological expertise for other aspects of CT, CI, and threat case management.
