***Edited on 7/9 to include sample boiler inspection form and Chapter 11 of The Bureau of Prisons Facilities Operations Manual. This national contract is being established to ensure the quality and uniformity of required boiler inspection services throughout the Bureau of Prison’s facilities. Additionally, the contract provides a standardized inspection reporting system allowing for institutions, regions and Central Office Facilities Management Branch to monitor the condition of existing boilers and pressure vessels. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary services, personnel, equipment and materials to inspect all boilers and pressure vessels located within the Bureau of Prisons’ 122 Institutions. Typical boilers found within Bureau of Prisons facilities include: • High and low pressure steam boilers; with varying fuel sources, BTU ranges, and operating pressures. • Low pressure/low temperature hot water boilers, with varying fuel sources, BTU ranges, and operating temperatures. • Domestic water heaters with storage tanks exceeding 120 and/or fuel input greater than 200,000BtuH • Ancillary equipment related to boiler operation, including; Other presser vessels, deaerators, expansion tanks, and condensate tanks. Boilers are operated and maintained by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) in the United States (48 contiguous states, Hawaii & Puerto Rico)
