The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) anticipates issuance of solicitation 15B40119B00000005 for the award of a firm-fixed-price construction contract for a project entitled Refurbish/Replace Elevators at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago. MCC Chicago is located at 71 W. Van Buren St., Chicago, Illinois 60605. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) anticipates the need for a firm-fixed-price contract for a project entitled Refurbish/Replace Elevators at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago. The following brief synopsis should not be considered inclusive of work required to complete the project. MCC Chicago has a requirement to refurbish/replace six existing elevators and five existing wheelchair lifts. The existing elevators and wheelchair lifts have exceeded their useful life. There is a bank of four elevators within the tower and an additional two elevators within the adjacent garage structure that all require refurbishment/replacement. There are five wheelchair lifts that require refurbishment/replacement. The performance period for the project will be 678 calendar days from issuance of the notice to proceed. Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36.204, the estimated magnitude of the project lies between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. (NOTE: This range is one of 8 available ranges from FAR 36.204 and is not meant to imply that the project has necessarily been estimated/budgeted to the maximum of the selected range. It merely conveys that the estimate/budget lies somewhere within that range.) The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 238290. The solicitation will be available approximately on or about August 27, 2019. The solicitation will be distributed solely through the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website at www.fbo.gov. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be made available. The website provides download instructions.
