The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) within the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) must verify that all newly proposed applicants and recertifying applicants, seeking to become or remain FHA-approved Lenders and FHA-approved housing counseling agencies, are eligible to participate in these HUD FHA programs. This verification also applies to interested principals and specific personnel of each lending and housing counseling agency. Participants must comply with numerous requirements of the National Housing Act, HUD regulations, handbooks and related Mortgagee Letters. HUD is responsible to verify each applicant’s eligibility to participate in the HUD FHA programs.
